Theora Balsam is an American actress. She has appeared in roles both on stage and on film.
Theora Balsam was born in New York, NY, USA. She is is an actress, a dancer, singer, and writer known for The Moons of Koda (2018), Ou-R Howse (2018), Halo (2015).
She loves to sing and can belt out a tune with the sweetness of a honeycomb. When her son was an infant she would play the guitar to get him to nap. She was born to perform, into a family of the theatre – her uncle, Martin Balsam, her mother, Cleone Balsam, her cousin Talia Balsam to name a few. Initially, she had aspirations of becoming a professional dancer. As a youngster she traveled in and around New York City every day to study ballet, jazz, and modern dance and won a scholarship at the famed New Dance Group Studio in the Broadway area, and soon began obtaining acting roles as well.
Her theater debut was at age eight in, EE Cumming’s “Santa Claus,” which brought her first review.

Theora trained at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and the Beverly Hills Playhouse, where she was coached by David Strasberg, Anne DeSalvo, Dig Wayne, and Howie Deutch. She also studied commercial acting at the Carolyne Barry Acting Academy and participated in Suzanne Sena’s Inner Circle for hosting, infomercial and media.
Her Master’s (cum laude) is in education from California State University and she is a passionate educator. She volunteers for BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) a signature children’s literacy program of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and The Art of Elysium serving medically fragile children. In 2016, Theora founded Artistry West Productions, with an emphasis on inspirational family films.
